Derek has co-founded several start-ups which he built as CEO including the market-defining cybersecurity companies Oakley (the first Data Leak Prevention company) which was acquired by Raytheon and Shape (the first bot defense company) which was acquired by F5. Derek also served as Senior Advisor for Cyber-Policy at the Office of the Secretary of Defense in the Pentagon. Derek is currently the CEO of Mimic, a start-up developing new technology to defend large enterprises against ransomware.
