Welcoming Two Visionaries to Team8’s Digital Health Advisory Board

August 7, 2025

At Team8 Health, we believe the future of healthcare will be shaped by leaders who not only understand its toughest challenges, but who have navigated and led through them. That’s why we’re proud to welcome two such visionaries to our Digital Health Advisory Board: Dr. Sachin Jain and Laizer Kornwasser.

Together, they bring decades of experience spanning clinical care, health policy, innovation, and operational leadership. Their insights will help us and the companies we build and partner with to reimagine what’s possible at the intersection of care, technology, and business.

We’re thrilled to have them in our corner. Their deep industry expertise, entrepreneurial creativity, and track record of execution are already making an impact - both within Team8 and across our portfolio.

From Policy to Practice: Dr. Sachin Jain

Few people have moved as fluently between government policy, clinical practice, and business innovation as Dr. Sachin Jain. Currently CEO of SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan, Dr. Jain leads one of the largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans in the U.S., serving more than 300,000 members across five states.

His journey, from early leadership roles at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), to executive positions at CareMore, Aspire Health, and Merck, has made him a rare kind of healthcare leader: grounded in evidence, fluent in policy, and courageous in innovation.

As a physician, his commitment to patient-centered care remains unwavering. As a strategist, his leadership at SCAN has earned national attention for its focus on equity, outcomes, and dignity in aging. We’re especially inspired by his ability to bridge the abstract and the actionable, turning values into operating models, and vision into scalable programs.

Sachin also recently joined our TechClinic podcast with Team8 Partner Dror Grof, where he shared unfiltered insights on the future of Medicare Advantage, the promise of AI, and why interoperability should no longer be treated like “putting a man on the moon.” His call for a “Visa for Electronic Health Records” and his reflections on what the U.S. can learn from Israel’s health system offer a timely blueprint for action. It’s a must-listen for anyone navigating the messy middle of healthcare reform.

Laizer Kornwasser: Scaling with Purpose

Laizer Kornwasser’s career spans every layer of the healthcare stack, from health tech innovation and telemedicine to pharmacy benefit management, retail pharmacy, and investment banking. Most recently, he served as President of Enterprise Growth and Emerging Markets at Teladoc Health, where he played a central role in expanding the company’s reach and relevance during a time of massive transformation.

Previously, Laizer held executive roles at CareCentrix and Medco Health, where he tackled some of the most complex challenges in healthcare delivery, reimbursement, and infrastructure.

His versatility is matched by his clarity of thought. Whether navigating private equity, guiding M&A, or building patient-first platforms, Laizer brings a level of operational rigor that’s essential for scaling digital health companies in today’s fragmented market.

Innovation, Grounded in Reality

At Team8, we’re building impactful companies that can solve major problems in difficult domains. That means understanding the messy middle of healthcare transformation: workforce constraints, payment friction, tech integration, and behavioral change. It also means surrounding our founders with advisors who have lived those complexities firsthand.

Sachin and Laizer are builders, problem-solvers, and systems thinkers. They understand how innovation succeeds, or fails, depending on context, implementation, and trust.

Their arrival comes at a pivotal time. As care shifts to the home, AI reshapes clinical workflows, and patients demand more control over their health journeys, we need advisors who see beyond the hype and can guide entrepreneurs toward sustainable, scalable impact.

A Village is Team8’s Key to Successful Companies

Both leaders will join our growing Digital Health Innovation Village, Team8’s collaborative network of healthcare executives, clinical leaders, and technologists working to close the gap between ambition and adoption. It’s a space where real-world feedback meets cutting-edge exploration. Where leaders shape the trajectory of the next generation of digital health.

We’re deeply grateful to have Sachin and Laizer join this mission. Their insights will not only accelerate our ventures, they’ll sharpen our collective ability to deliver on the promise of digital health.

Welcome to Team8.
