With an extensive professional background leading businesses at Standard Chartered, Visa and PayPal, Rupert Keeley is widely acknowledged to be one of the payment industry’s most accomplished and experienced executives. Rupert has spent more than three decades helping businesses and consumers make the transition from cash and checks to digital payment technologies.
Rupert has undertaken executive roles in leading banking and payment organizations on four continents. The one-time Gulf head of consumer banking and CEO of Bahrain for Standard Chartered, he went on to play a crucial role in the development of Visa’s global business as President and CEO of the Asia Pacific region, Global Head of Strategy and Corporate Development, and Group President of Asia Pacific, Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Rupert joined PayPal in 2011 as General Manager for PayPal’s business in APAC and later as Executive Vice President for PayPal’s business in EMEA including as the CEO of PayPal Europe.
Rupert is currently acting as a non-executive Director at NewDay, a financial services company specializing in providing credit products to consumers in the UK, and as a member of the Technology Advisory Committee of United Overseas Bank (UOB) in Singapore. He is also an advisor to SumUp, a UK-based payments company for small businesses and Pollinate, a UK company that helps banks to connect to small merchants.
Rupert holds an MBA in Marketing from the City University Business School and a B.Sc. in Management Sciences from the University of Manchester.
