Espresso Clinical- Director of Business Development US (East Coast)
Location: Remote, US Remote
Description
- Be the founding commercial hire building the go-to-market for a new category: continuous AI oversight of clinical trials.
About Espresso Clinical
Espresso Clinical is building R1, an AI oversight layer that reads across every system inside a clinical trial at once, from EDC and CTMS to eTMF, IRT and eCOA, and surfaces risk the day it appears rather than weeks later when someone finally reconciles two logs by hand. The bar for demonstrating oversight in clinical trials moved decisively with ICH E6(R3), and most sponsors and CROs still cannot produce the record regulators now expect. Espresso Clinical is already in active pilots with pharma sponsors and CROs, built on SOC 2-aligned controls, and is backed by private equity as it moves from pilot to scaled commercial traction.
Job Responsibilities
- Build and own outbound pipeline into CROs and pharma/biotech Clinical Operations, Data Management, and Quality/Regulatory teams, generating your own meetings rather than working inherited leads.
- Run the full sales cycle, from first conversation through multi-stakeholder evaluation to signed contract, across a buying committee that typically spans Clinical Ops, Data Management, Quality, and IT/data governance.
- Represent Espresso Clinical at industry events such as DIA, SCOPE, ACRP, and similar.
- Partner directly with the founder to shape the sales strategy, positioning, and go-to-market strategy as the company’s first commercial hire, not just execute someone.
- Bring market and buyer feedback back into the business to help shape product priorities and packaging.
Job Requirements
- 5–8+ years selling into CROs, pharma/biotech Clinical Operations, Data Management, or
- Quality/Regulatory, ideally at an EDC, CTMS, eTMF, RBQM/central monitoring, or clinical data platform vendor.
- A track record as a new-logo hunter who builds pipeline from cold outbound leads while alsodeveloping existing relationships
Good to have:
- Experience as a first or second commercial hire at an early-stage company (seed to Series B), with the instincts that come from building a motion from nothing.
- Comfort selling innovative first in class solutions and services
- Fluency in GxP, ICH E6(R3), CAPA, protocol deviations, and central monitoring, enough to be credible in the room within the first five minutes.
