Melissa Bishop safeguards Amazon’s leadership backbone as CISO of Corporate Services, protecting critical finance, HR, and legal functions for the tech giant. Her illustrious 20+ year security career spans divisional CISO at Capital One, Deputy CISO at Uber, and information security leadership at Autodesk. Beyond these roles, Bishop has championed startup integration in enterprise security through many channels, including as an advisor for YL Ventures, via her RSAC 2024 panel discussion on CISO-entrepreneur partnerships, and by advising entrepreneurs building on AWS via her engagement with the AWS Cyber BD team.
Bishop attributes women’s success in cybersecurity to their ability to “the ability to rapidly make multiple trade-off decisions, often in a crisis or semi-crisis situation while thoughtfully considering various possible outcomes, staying calm, and caring about the people around them.” This philosophy drives her extensive mentorship of women in technology through internal programs and external work with nonprofits like Girls Inc.
