Team8-Summer Internship 2021, Strategy & Business Research Team

About The Position

Team8, a world leading company-building venture group with deep domain expertise that creates companies and invests in companies (specializing in enterprise technology, cybersecurity, privacy & digital trust, ML/AI, and fintech), is hiring an exceptional Summer Intern to join its Strategy & Business Research team for the Summer of 2021.  

Team8’s Summer Intern in Business Research will work closely with Team8 company Founders, members of our Investment Vehicles, as well as the Go-to-Market Team and Group to support all things business-research related. This includes investigating and analyzing new markets, competition, products, and strategies throughout the company-building process in both the Fintech and Enterprise Tech domains. It also includes supporting other Team8 growth initiatives and strategic projects, thought leadership activities, investment thesis development, report collection and analysis, and writing.

Team8’s Summer Intern in Business Research will gain valuable experience into the venture creation and funding process, as well as a crash course in business & investment analysis in both the private and public markets from experienced investors and operators. The internship can help position the right candidates for future careers in venture capital and / or tech entrepreneurship, and provide an inside look at some of today’s most important deep technology domains and topics.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct market research and analysis in Team8 areas of focus of Enterprise Tech and Fintech
• Analyze competition, create competitive landscapes, and conduct product deep dives for direct competitors of portfolio companies
• Create targeted lists of customers and partners for Team8 business development opportunities
• Perform financial analysis and develop skills in Excel and business modelling
• Support other members of the Team8 companies, vehicles, platform, or group in areas such as Strategy, Operations, Business Development, Marketing, and more

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Master’s degree in the areas of Business, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
• Native or high proficiency in written and spoken English
• Analytical and tech-savvy (Internet, social media, powerpoint presentations, spreadsheets and reports, CRM systems, and other BI tools)
• Market research capabilities for technology-driven markets
• Ability to digest large volumes of information and synthesize key takeaways
• Superior critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and understanding strategic frameworks and concepts
• Team player and thrives in a fast-paced environment
• Creative, but also organized, as well as process and detail-oriented

Advantages:

• MBA program or other Master’s program in a field related to Team8’s domain
• Previous experience, expertise, or demonstrated passion in cybersecurity, fintech, data, AI, privacy, or other topics in the Team8 domain
• High proficiency in Excel and comfort with building financial models / managing spreadsheets
