Cloud FinOps Engineer

Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Cloud FinOps Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between finance, engineering, and operations to ensure our cloud investments deliver maximum value. You will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing our cloud spend while enabling engineering teams to make cost-conscious technical decisions without compromising performance or security.

As a Cloud FinOps Engineer, your impact will be:
Cloud Cost Analysis & Reporting
- Track and analyze cloud spend across multiple platforms: AWS (primarily), Azure, GCP.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, cost allocation models, and forecasting tools.
- Prepare regular reports for executives, finance, and engineering stakeholders.
Optimization & Cost Control
- Identify opportunities for cost savings through rightsizing, instance scheduling, and resource reallocation (K8s, EC2, RDS and etc’)
- Partner with engineering teams to implement best practices for cost efficiency.
- Monitor usage patterns and alert on anomalies or unexpected cost spikes.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the annual budgeting process for cloud services.
- Collaborate with finance to align forecasts with business needs and planned initiatives.
- Track budget vs. actual spend and explain variances.
Process & Policy Development
- Establish tagging, chargeback, and governance standards, assign workloads costs per team in the organization, to enable cost ownership and traceability per team.
- Build observability and monitoring tools for tracking the cost per team
- Document and promote FinOps best practices across teams.
- Support tooling and automation for cost tracking and optimization.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as the primary liaison between Finance, Engineering, and Procurement.
- Educate technical teams on the financial impact of architectural decisions.
- Drive a cost-awareness culture across the organization.
